this cny/valentines holiday has been the WORST in the history of my quarter-life.

so far, cny has been financially rewarding.

but emotionally draining.

me: oh, he's in chengdu [shouts across the table]

father's sister: HUH, WHERE'S CHENGDU? [noise gets louder]

me: IN CHINA.

father's first younger brother: OH, SO HE'S A CHINAMAN IS IT?

father's sister: YOU ALWAYS LIKE THAT. WHAT CHINAMAN. IN CHINA THEN IT MEANS

CHINAMAN MEH. THEN IN MALAYSIA THAT MEANS MALAYMAN. [gives absurd look at her younger brother]

cny day 1 at mother's side-

mother's oldest sister: stephanie, why your boyboy never come?

me: oh, he's in chengdu [i know, no creativity in answer]

mother's 2nd sister: holiday ah?

mother: he went with family. they go overseas every cny.

guess i have to repeat this every cny from now onwards until the person in question turns up.

maybe i should tape record my answer down.

save me the saliva and oxygen of repeating myself.

and now it's back to studying, mugging, essay-writing.

wonder where's the reunion dinner this year.

that if when i get my sep for year 2 sem 2,

i wont be able to go for the cny trip with his family next year.

but ohwells,

cny trips can happen many times in the future.
